【原句呈现】Maybe, but now that he has been so rude to us, I feel like we have to punish him or he won’t
respect us.(P23) 或许吧，但是既然他对我们这么无礼，我觉得我们有必要教训教训他。要不然，他不会尊重我们的。
【句法分析】①本句中的“now that”用来引导原因状语从句，表示“鉴于某个事实或显而易见的原因”，相当于since, in that。
②顺便提一下该句中“feel like”后面跟的是省略了“that”的宾语从句，意为：觉得……。例如：He feels like that he has never been to such a place.他感觉好像从未到过这样一个地方。但是我们通常所碰到的是“feel like”跟名词或是动名词作宾语。本单元中还有一个类似“feel like”用法的句子：The money for dog food is gone, but the Spot looks like he is starving(P22).用来买狗食的钱不见了，可是小斑点看上去都饿坏了。“look like似乎，看上去好像”后面常接名词，有时也可以接从句。例如：It looks like a tiger.它看上去像一只老虎。They don’t look like they’re trying their best.他们看上去好像没有全力以赴。
